It’s Time to Play Ball at Gleniffer Lake!

We are never running out of new things to do at Gleniffer Lake, and the summer promises to bring more choices than ever. That’s because, in addition to the boating, golf, and nightlife that have made our community so popular with families from Calgary, Edmonton, and beyond, we are adding even more sports to our summer calendar this year.

That’s right: Gleniffer Lake is adding a couple of new teams this summer. First, we are looking for men and women interested in playing baseball on our brand-new diamond. We’ve already got almost a couple dozen players lined up, but are interested in finding more. Once we have a full complement, we’ll set up some games – perhaps one phase against another! – and may even challenge some folks from that other resort across the lake.

We’re also going through the same process to put together a league of pool players for upcoming competitions and tournaments. So, if you’re an ace on the billiards, then come show off your skills to the rest of the Lake Resort. Or, if baseball and pool aren’t the games for you, then know that we’ll still be featuring golf, tennis, and other outdoor activities – including a number of camps and competitions that will run through the summer.

One of the best things about spending the summer at Gleniffer Lake is that there’s always something to do. Whether you feel like having a little bit of peace and quiet or getting out to compete with your neighbors, you won’t have trouble finding what you’re looking for. So, if you haven’t competed in one of our sports leagues in the past, I hope you’ll give it a shot this year. I’m really looking forward to some fun and friendly competition with all of you!

Gleniffer Lake: Where the Residents Ride in Style

There are a lot of things that people love about Gleniffer Lake‘s unique setting – like our long, warm summers, the beauty of one of Alberta’s only major lakes, a golf course with numerous tennis courts attached, and the fact that we are less than an hour and a half from both Calgary and Edmonton.

One thing that does catch quite a few eyes, however, is our particular mode of getting around. As you may have already noticed from our website’s gallery, people don’t drive on our streets… or at least they don’t drive cars. Instead, Gleniffer Lake residents get around in golf carts, ranging from the simple to the deluxe (as is the one we use here at Paradise Realty).

There are a lot of reasons we choose to ride in style with golf carts, especially that they are safer and less expensive, and nothing in Gleniffer Lake is ever terribly far away. But there is also one more reason that is often overlooked: They are just lots of fun!

Slowing down and taking to the streets in a golf cart is a great way to enjoy yourself and contribute to the small-community vacation home feel that so many of us have come to love over the years. In other words, just one more quick reminder that we are very far from the hustle and bustle of Calgary and Edmonton… even though we could be there in just over an hour.

If you don’t already know why having streets full of golf carts is so much fun, I encourage you to come and check out Gleniffer Lake today. It might just give you a new perspective on your daily commute!

Fishing at Gleniffer Lake

I spend a fair amount time talking about all of the wonderful things I enjoy about living and working in Gleniffer Lake all summer – particularly the boating, golf, outdoor recreation, and big selection of restaurants and bars. It truly is a one-of-a-kind place that brings friends, families, neighbors together.

One thing that I probably haven’t taken enough time to point out, however, is that Gleniffer Lake is a good place to go fishing, too. In fact, it’s not unusual to see all kinds of people casting their rods and throwing their lines into the lake hoping to catch a few fish… and more than a few do.

What kinds of fish can you catch in Gleniffer Lake? I suppose it depends on what you’re looking for. There is a trout pond attached to the lake itself, and it’s stocked with rainbow trout by the Canadian fisheries department. For those looking for quick catch, that’s a great place to start.

In addition, there are all kinds of edible fish that can be caught at the lake resort itself, including some good-sized walleye. While these might not be big enough to attract hardcore sportsman, they can make for a great morning or afternoon of fishing. And best of all, when you’re done you aren’t in an old fishing shack or way out in the wilderness, but surrounded by all the amenities of an Alberta resort. You could even decide to go golfing, play tennis, or spend the day with your family after a few hours spent reeling in fish!

Gleniffer Lake will probably always be known for its other attractions before its fishing, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to catch an our lake trout pond. If you’re looking for great way to spend a few hours peacefully, then why not come give fishing at Gleniffer Lake a try?

Summer is Finally Coming to Gleniffer Lake!

While Alberta has been collectively groaning under a bit of a late winter this year, the first signs of spring and summer are finally showing up in earnest around Gleniffer Lake. Here are just a few of things I’ve noticed in the past couple of weekends at our lake resort:

-Green grass starting to poke through the ground, as temperatures rise and the sun peeks out from behind the clouds

-Water running from the mountains, bringing the lake levels up and giving the area a warmer feel

-A pair of boats zooming around Gleniffer Lake from a nearby dock, with happy couples and families enjoying the first warm weekends out

-And more calls, showings, and reservations from folks who just can’t wait to come up and enjoy the natural beauty and all-out summer enjoyment of our cottages and RV lots

In other words, it won’t be long now before we’re seeing young teachers out for the summer, families looking to enjoy weekends away from the city, fun-loving retirees who want to spend time with their grandkids, and everyone in between. It looks like it’s going to be another great year up at Gleniffer Lake, so are you ready?

Our gorgeous community, which features some of Canada’s best boating, lots of golf and outdoor activities, and a combination of peace and quiet when you want it and all kinds of nightlife when you don’t, is no longer the “little secret” it used to be. We are less than an hour and a half away from both Calgary and Edmonton, and space in our cottages and vacant lots is limited, so reserve your spot today before someone else does!

There’s nothing quite like a summer weekend – or if you’re lucky, a whole summer – spent in one of the best places on earth, so make this the year you finally find out why.
